Now Hiring Preschool Manager

The Tallahassee Museum’s highly respected and nationally accredited preschool is seeking an experienced and qualified Preschool Manager. This individual will build upon the program’s 48 year history and continue its leadership in museum-based, experiential preschool education.

The Preschool program currently offers classes to children ages 3.5- 5 years, and operates from 7:30am-5:30pm with a full-day program and a half-day program. The program also offers a summer camp program as well. The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program is offered 3 days a week to both full-day and half-day classes. Our program gives the growing child the opportunity to develop an understanding of and appreciation for their ever expanding world through nature and history-based play and hands-on experiences in a 52 acre setting. Lessons are delivered in unique settings from the historic farmstead to hardwood hammocks to dry sinkholes, and cypress swamps, as well as in the classroom.

Candidates should be energetic, passionate, creative and committed to instilling learning habits and developing the physical, mental, and social skills of our program’s children. The Preschool Manager will exhibit a willingness to achieve what the excellence of our program requires, from assessing state test scores, to crouching low to the ground to building tiny houses from sticks and leaves.

Candidates must possess the required Director Credentials per the Florida Department of Children and Families. Preference will be given to candidates who have direct experience in applying for and maintaining national preschool accreditation standards.

Salary: Based on education and experience.

Responsibilities:

Manages Preschool’s budget and financial success in order for the school to contribute to the program’s sustainability.
Hires, supervises, coaches and trains staff
Operates the school according to state licensing standards and within the mission and policies of the Tallahassee Museum.
Assists teachers with development and execution of curriculum and activities that contribute to the growth, education, and development of the children in our school.
Communicates and meets regularly with parents, Museum staff and community members.
Purchases supplies, equipment, food, etc. while operating within budgetary guidelines.
Maintains personnel required credentials and in-service hours. Stays abreast of best early childhood practices and academic benchmarks.
Ensures the safety of the children in our care.
