Florida State University School of Dance (SOD) Office of Community Relations and Special Programs

Summer or Fall 2017 Internship

SOD is seeking a Media and Publications Interns for the Summer and Fall semesters. The SOD Internship is generally a variable credit hour commitment to be completed as part of an FSU academic program. However, volunteer interns will be considered if student is not interested in credit.

Media and Publication Intern Responsibilities:

■Research Visiting Guest Artists and prepare press articles

■Write, edit and finalize content for monthly newsletters

• Write, edit and finalize content for weekly email blasts

■Apply content to InDesign to create various flyers

■Write, edit and finalize content for School of Dance magazine

■Write, edit and finalize content for various posters, signage, and press materials

■Print and distribute various posters and signage

Web Site Content Editor/Research and Social Media

■ As available, attend various dance shows, workshops, and other community events hosted by SOD and write a brief event summary for the web site.

■ Write, edit, and publish content from dance shows, workshops, and other community events by SOD to the various Social media outlets

Photo Processing

■Ensure press photos are properly uploaded into Smug Mug

■Tag, sort, and caption photos

■Process photos for press distribution

Contact Management/iContact Management.

■Ensure iContact email addresses stay updated

• Write, edit, and finalize content for email distribution

Artist Services Event Assistance.

■When necessary and available assist with special events.

Media and Publication Intern Desired Skills:

• Solid written and verbal communication skills.

○Ability to effectively communicate with staff, scholars and artists.

• Computer skills including Microsoft Office programs
• Indesign Experience a plus
• Ability to work both independently and take ownership of a project.
