Loco for Love Festival Volunteer Coordinator 2019:  Job Description

Theater with a Mission (TWAM) seeks a creative, well-organized individual with experience in recruiting and managing volunteers for community events.  This person will work with TWAM’s Festival Steering Committee and the Festival Manager to coordinate volunteers for the Loco for Love Festival on September 13-15, 2019.

Loco for Love Festival is a free, 3-day, family-friendly event that explores connections between Shakespeare, Cervantes, and life in Florida today, in Railroad Square Art District.

This position is funded at $1250.  Financial incentives for achieving management goals will provide opportunities to earn additional income.

The Volunteer Coordinator’s responsibilities will include:

ADVANCE PLANNING

Collaborate with Festival Manager and Steering Committee to

• identify volunteer tasks
• calculate volunteers needed
• identify sources for volunteer recruitment
• develop volunteer sign-up system
• recruit volunteers
• develop volunteer training materials / information packet
• assign volunteer times and tasks
• develop strategy and budget for rewarding volunteers

EVENT MANAGEMENT

• oversee volunteers assisting in Festival setup/load-in
• in coordination with Festival Manager, open Festival space for operation each day and position signage to promote public visibility and audibility
• actively oversee volunteer activities, to ensure warm welcomes and clear guidance for all Festival attendees and presenters
• in coordination with Festival Manager, secure Festival space and signage after each day’s operation
• work with Festival Manager, Stage Manager, and Steering Committee rep to make emergency decisions about any changes necessary in performance schedule/ locations
• oversee volunteers assisting in Festival cleanup/load-out.

EVALUATION & ARCHIVING

Collaborate with Steering Committee to

• archive volunteer records in an active, ongoing system
• develop a system for volunteer feedback and elicit feedback from volunteers
• supply feedback on the Festival and the Volunteer Coordinator position.
