Loco for Love Festival Stage Manager 2019

Job Description

Theater with a Mission (TWAM) seeks a creative, well-organized individual with experience in stage management.  This person will work with TWAM’s Festival Steering Committee and the Festival Manager to manage performances during the Loco for Love Festival on September 13-15, 2019.

Loco for Love Festival is a free, 3-day, family-friendly event that explores connections between Shakespeare, Cervantes, and life in Florida today, in Railroad Square Art District.

This position is funded at $1000.  Financial incentives for achieving management goals will provide opportunities to earn additional income.

The Stage Manager’s responsibilities will include:

REHEARSAL / ADVANCE PLANNING

Collaborate with Schedule & Space Team, Festival Manager, and Volunteer Coordinator to:

  • participate in finalizing schedule of events, matching performances with spaces, and identifying arrangements needed to support presentations (tents, sound/lights, parking, etc.)
  • administer travel and hospitality arrangements for performers coming from out of town
  • manage TWAM rehearsals, prepping performances and maintaining prompt scripts
  • manage TWAM tours, promoting Festival
  • identify Assistant Stage Managers needed, recruit and train
  • train in tech management for all performance spaces (sound, lights, projectors, screens, A/C, fans, extension cords)

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

Collaborate with Festival Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Assistant Stage Managers to

  • manage tech for performance spaces
  • manage temperature controls in all playing spaces
  • greet arriving performers, situating them in green room and performance space
  • maintain performance schedule, keeping performances on track
  • work with Festival Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Steering Committee rep to make emergency decisions about any changes necessary in performance schedule/ locations
  • maintain attendance counts, and report them to Festival Manager
  • distribute and collect audience surveys after each presentation, in conjunction with volunteers (exchanging chocolate for completed surveys)

EVALUATION & ARCHIVING

Collaborate with Videographer, Photographer, and Steering Committee to

  • schedule photo shoots
  • participate in planning and creating a video and photo record of Festival
  • tabulate and deliver audience surveys to Steering Committee
  • archive prompt books
  • supply feedback on the Festival and the Stage Manager position.
