Loco for Love Festival Manager 2019:  Job Description

Theater with a Mission (TWAM) seeks a creative, well-organized individual with experience in managing community events.  This person will work with TWAM’s Festival Steering Committee to finalize plans and administer activities for the Loco for Love Festival on September 13-15, 2019.

Loco for Love Festival is a free, 3-day, family-friendly event that explores connections between Shakespeare, Cervantes, and life in Florida today, in Railroad Square Art District.

This position is funded at $1250.  Financial incentives for achieving management goals will provide opportunities to earn additional income.

The Festival Manager’s responsibilities will include:

ADVANCE PLANNING

Collaborate with Festival Schedule Team and the Volunteer Coordinator to

  • finalize Festival schedule of events and identify arrangements needed to support all presentations (tents, sound/lights, parking, etc.)
  • identify volunteer tasks and calculate volunteers needed
  • identify and recruit key management personnel (e.g., money-handlers)
  • develop a clear chain of command for making changes in performance schedule/ locations and troubleshooting during Festival operations.

VENDING & MERCHANDISING

Collaborate with Merchandising Task Force to

  • set vendor fees
  • recruit vendors, verify licensing, map vendor locations
  • develop strategy and budget for supplying food and water to TWAM staff, performers, volunteers from vendors
  • assist in selection of TWAM merchandise and oversee TWAM merchandising

SITE MANAGEMENT

Serve as liaison with Railroad Square and Mickee Faust to

  • devise site plan for accommodating performances, with backup plans for weather conditions and spillover crowds
  • open Festival space for operation each day and position signage to promote public visibility and audibility
  • greet presenters (performers, lecturers) as they arrive and facilitate setup for presentations
  • secure Festival space and signage after each day’s operation
  • coordinate security, bathrooms, hospitality, first aid
  • oversee Festival setup/load-in, parking, cleanup/load-out
  • work with Volunteer Coordinator, Stage Manager, and Steering Committee rep to make emergency decisions about any changes necessary in performance schedule/ locations
  • maintain attendance counts, in coordination with Stage Manager

EVALUATION & ARCHIVING

Collaborate with Steering Committee to

  • archive vendor paperwork
  • supply feedback on the Festival and the Festival Manager position.
