The sun! How long can we live without it? It's more than just the center star of the Solar System. Although we often take it for granted, this gift of nature is the source of energy for life on Earth, a necessity for our well-being. It has inspired and intrigued artists, poets, philosophers, scientists, and everyone who has somehow been touched by its invisible warmth.

What physical and emotional impact does the big ball of fire have on you? This summer show at the Joe Center for the Arts celebrates all things under the sun. Employing our theme of 'Here Comes the Sun!', artists of all levels are invited to apply creative expression in art using any and all kinds of media and to share it for consideration to this juried exhibition. So grab your shades and take a summery dive into those golden rays of light, and let it inspire your art.

Juror for this show is Donna Ingle, owner of the River's Edge Art Gallery in Apalachicola. A native of Apalachicola, Donna comes to art, especially, pottery, from an interesting background of biology, computer programming and aviation. In 2019, Donna built her gallery with the goal to provide an outlet for artists to share their work with visitors to the Gulf Coast. Donna sees science and art as a continuum of understanding the unknowable.
