Hancock Whitney, one of America’s strongest, safest financial institutions, has announced a new partnership with the Greater New Orleans Foundation for competitive grant opportunities to help non-profits strengthen community development across the greater Gulf Coast region. Funding for the grants—part of the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program—totals $140,000.

Hancock Whitney supports non-profit organizations serving 24 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) and non MSAs in the five states encircling the Gulf of Mexico working in the areas of: Affordable Housing, Economic Development, Education, Healthcare, Small Business, Social Services, and Youth Programs. All grant applicants must be eligible 501 (c)(3) organizations in the Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas MSAs in which Hancock Whitney is located.

“We are extremely pleased to work with the Greater New Orleans Foundation to provide grants to non-profits committed to creating more opportunities and stronger quality of life for the Gulf South communities we serve, especially in areas where economic vitality and affordable housing are so critical,” said Hancock Whitney Director of CRA and Community Affairs Sunada Brookins.

The Greater New Orleans Foundation will manage the grant application process. Hancock Whitney will review applications and award grants to qualifying not-for-profit organizations engaging in activities meeting the definition of community development, such as affordable housing, community services for low- and moderate-income individuals, economic development, and revitalization and stabilization in disaster areas.

How and when to apply for grants

The Foundation’s grant application portal opens Friday, August 3, 2018. All applications are due via the online portal no later than August 30, 2018.

The application process requires a tax identification number and includes a review for current standing with the Internal Revenue Service. By submitting a proposal, non-profit organizations consent to sharing their application, financial information, and other details related to their application with Hancock Whitney and GNOF. Application documents are stored electronically.
