Dacia Gallery is pleased to offer an Artist Grant for 2017 with $2,000 in Cash Awards to the selected artists and a Group Exhibition for the 10 Finalists. This artist grant is intended to help artists financially to continue creating artwork. The artist grant comes with unrestricted funds that may be used as needed by the artists. Since its establishment in 2010 Dacia Gallery has been an avid partner with artists in the creative process of art and mounting museum quality exhibitions to present emerging and established artists. Dacia Gallery is also devoted to supporting arts education, by establishing workshops and artist residencies in both New York City and Romania. The Dacia Gallery Artist Grant and Exhibition is dedicated to helping artists pursue their passion and to further their artistic careers.

Invitation to Artists: Dacia Gallery invites all visual artists to apply for this wonderful opportunity to receive an Artist Grant and to participate in a group exhibition.

Who Can Participate: All visual artists, national and international artists may apply. We are looking for talented and dedicated artists. Dacia Gallery always supports artists and their artistic endeavors and we want to encourage you to keep making art and exhibiting your work.

10 Finalists: 10 Artists will be chosen as finalists for the Artist Grant, they will be announced on the gallery website. The first place winner will be awarded $1,000 and the second and third place winners will be awarded $500 each. The remaining seven finalists will receive an honorable mention and participate in the group exhibition along with the other artists.

Art Exhibition: It’s your moment in the spotlight. Dacia Gallery will host a formal Opening Reception & Exhibition presenting your work in a group show that is open to the public. Lee Vasu, founder and curator of Dacia Gallery, will be on hand to help each artist prepare for the show. Once the public has arrived, each participating artist will give an artist talk to the assembled crowd outlining the featured artwork and methodology to collectors, artists, gallerists and the admiring public.

How Are Artists Selected: Dacia Gallery’s jurors will review your application and select the artists that submitted work. The jurors VOTE for the artist of their choice through a process of elimination, whoever gets the most votes simply receives an Artist Grant and participates in the group exhibition.

When is The Artist Grant Awarded: The Artist Grant will be awarded during the Opening Reception for the Exhibition on Thursday, June 15, 2017, by Dacia Gallery founder and director Lee Vasu.

How Will The Artist Grant be Given: The artist grant is unrestricted, therefore it is up to the selected artists on how they receive the grant, as cash, check or money order.

Accepted Artwork: Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography and mixed media. The work can be abstract, figurative, landscapes or sculptures, in other words, all creative culminations are welcome.

To Apply: Please be ready to provide your Artist Bio or Resume and up to 10 images of your artwork.

Artist Bio: Your Artist Bio should be no longer than one to two paragraphs describing: whom you are, where you studied or self-taught and what inspires you? Or anything interesting that you would like the jurors to know about you.

Artwork Images: Please submit a minimum of 3 images of your artwork or up to 10 images.

Additionally: Save and label all your image files: Title, Name, Medium, Dimensions. Example: Untitled, Michael Smith, Oil on Canvas, 20×30.

Application Fee: You may submit up to 10 images of your artwork and artist bio. The application fee is $45. Payment of the application fee is final.
