Art in the Open is a new public art program, put in place by TCA, with the goal being to promote public art in the new Creative District. Art in the Open aims to stimulate growth and economic development in underdeveloped corridors, and bring interest to our Historic Downtown. Furry and Feathered will be the first of many projects to come!
The challenge: up to twenty teams of fiber artists will compete to yarn bomb trees along the W. Jackson Street corridor. This yarn bomb celebrates wildlife and will go up during this year’s Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival. Each team will create a fiber art sleeve for the tree trunk and will add embellishments of wildlife animals that are felted, knitted and created with any other form of fiber art. Deadline is August 5th. Teams can be up to three people, or it can be a solo artist!
