Midtown Reader is excited to host a “Story Slam” on the first Thursday of each month.

We’re proud to partner with FSU’s creative writing program

and the Tallahassee Writers' Association to feature terrific fiction and nonfiction!

Submit your work for review and selection monthly.

Four authors will be chosen to read at an open-mic night in the store!

We’re thrilled to have Sean Towey, FSU creative writing Ph.D. candidate, emceeing our Story Slams and helping select our writers/readers each month. Sean has work published or forthcoming in publications including the minnesota review, Hobart, Word Riot, and The Rumpus. He was a semi-finalist for the St. Lawrence Book Award at Black Lawrence Press and is the recipient of an Emerging Writer Award chosen by Debra Monroe. He serves as the online editor for the Southeast Review and co-hosts a podcast on writing at FSU with Colleen Mayo. Sean grew up in Tacoma, and he currently lives in Tallahassee with his wife Erin.
