The Apalachicola Arsenal Museum is striving to help local rural communities who have been devastated by Hurricane Michael. Neighbors in Gadsden, Jackson and Calhoun Counties face a new world each and every day caused by the hurricane destruction. Many homes are still in need of repair. Many business facilities have been destroyed.  People wake up to a stark world with trees bent, broken or fallen. People are still living in tents, campers or with others. Some park their vehicles on roads and paddle out to their home surrounded now by water.  Blue roofs have become the norm as tarps remain covering holes. Each day is an effort to hold on to hope that things will change soon....but in our lifetime things will never be what they were in these areas. Hope is needed. People caring is needed. The Apalachicola Arsenal is encouraging artists, groups, businesses in the area to show compassion to those affected. Stars of Hope USA is the world's largest and fastest growing healing arts program empowering people to transform communities impacted by natural and human-caused disasters by creating and displaying colorful art and messages of hope and healing.  One foot wooden stars are provided for art and messages to be designed. Your name and message may be entered on the back of each. Your star will bring hope to an individual, family or the community. The Museum is seeking groups to take part in the program. Give HOPE to others. Together we can empower. Together we can heal. Together we can create hope.  Together our light shines.   If interested in being a part of this program or for more information contact Linda at 850-794-0197.

  1. I’m a professional storyteller and spoken word artist with a masters in performance art. Having just attended Building Artistic Communities in Colquitt, Georgia at the home of Swamp Gravy, I experienced what my art form can do in a community. We interviewed survivors of Hurricane Michael and then told those stories in concert. The healing in that Storybridhe process was incredible. Interested?
