JOB DESCRIPTION
COCA seeks a talented part-time guest writer for our COCA Spotlight feature with a proven track record in journalism or related fields and a robust portfolio of published articles. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, showcasing a meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy. A demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively is essential. Strong research capabilities, familiarity with AP style, journalistic ethics, and a passion for crafting engaging narratives are prerequisites for this role.
Responsibilities include
Conducting engaging interviews with diverse individuals, ranging from individual artists to experts in various arts & culture fields
Gather insightful information and create compelling articles
Researching interview subjects via organization/artist websites, social media, etc.
Preparing thoughtful questions related to relevant arts & culture fields or the event in which the artist is participating in
Conducting interviews in person, over the phone, or via video calls.

Qualifications
Willing to travel for potential in-person interviews within COCA's 100-mile service radius | Most interviews will occur within Tallahassee
(Preferred) 1-2 years experience writing in AP style
Portfolio of published articles
Ability to write in a variety of tones
Work well independently
