A former gallery owner featuring Russian Impressionism and working as a restorer of fine art and frame conservation, I relocated to my home town of Tallahassee in 2013 to be closer to my aging parents. Upon receiving the devastating diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer 3 years ago, the toxic chemicals were thrown out along with the tedious work of matching colors, styles and the exacting techniques of art restoration, and on a whim I took several workshops learning the different methods of acrylic pour and found my bliss.

The freedom of allowing the paint to just ‘flow’ and manipulate it using different techniques was a metaphor for my new life- I let whatever is going to happen just happen- let go of control and just go with the flow!  This method is art therapy at its best and I love being able to share the finished products (paintings, collages using ‘skins’, poured wooden boxes, home accessories or jewelry). I wake up every day ready to create and find the possibilities are almost endless!

Since I can’t paint on everything that doesn’t move, teaching this medium fulfills my need and watching their excitement grow as the cells pop and the colors mingle allows me to share in this joy,  especially with those who don’t consider themselves ‘artistic’.

Briefly describe the class(es) you offer:

Demonstration Workshop: $40 for all materials. Approximately 1.5 hours & 3 small projects. Great for families with kids 10 & older. Beginners Workshop: $60 for all materials. Approximately 2 hours & 4 projects. Fun for friends, co-workers, etc. Advanced Workshop: $80 for all materials. Approximately 4 hours and 5 larger projects. Participation in either the Demonstration or Beginners Workshop in advance is required. One on one instruction is also offered. Specialty Workshops, Pour Parties/Date Nights are available, as well as the option of serving food and beverages (BYOB) to make the workshop more festive.
