Michelle Magallon (1997, Panama) graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2019. She focuses on painting, sculpture, and performance. Currently residing in Panama City, Panama she is exploring the materiality of paint (color, texture, mark-making) and belongingness (within space and place.)
Statement
Small gestures serve as the backbone for my explorations. My current body of work aims to look beyond the traditional uses of paint to further emphasize its formal elements of color, shape, and texture. Either by using the body to emphasize the plasticity of paint or by itself as an object. My practice is fueled by small narratives of the mundane, being a young woman, belongingness, and space and place.
