Melissa Carlson

My name is Melissa Carlson and I am the owner, as well as an instructor, at Strings Attached Music. As a music teacher and performer, it is my mission to expose students to the beauties of music and enhance their minds and skills in all genres of music. Each student is provided a specific lesson plan that will improve their playing skills through technique and performance books/exercises and gain knowledge of music theory and music appreciation.

I keep it fun! It is my mission to keep students motivated and excited about taking music lessons. I incorporate different methods and games to keep things interesting, providing lessons that are serious, but not strict – fun, but still formative.

In addition, it is my goal to provide expertise through lessons, master classes, performances and auditions. Music is truly an international language. It is a privilege to watch each student learn, achieve and succeed in their studies.

I have been playing the violin since the age of 12. Throughout middle school and high school I was involved with many youth orchestras, honors orchestras as well as All State orchestra. After high school, I attended Florida State University where I studied under world class violinist, Beth Newdome. After obtaining a BA in music from FSU, I have become a well known teacher/performer in the Tallahassee area and have a studio of over twenty students. I have been teaching for twelve years and have performed for over 1,000 events and with multiple orchestras throughout Florida, such as the Miami City Ballet, the Ocala Symphony Orchestra and the Broward Symphony Orchestra.
Performance Experience
I have experience performing a wide variety of music for over 1,000 events. Styles include classical, jazz, blues, Celtic, Irish, rock & roll and hip-hop.
