As an artist, I am passionate about my identity. A reflection of who I am can be seen in the content of my paintings, and with that exposure I must value myself as a man and an artist of culture. My work illustrates the importance of ancestral knowledge and family tradition by highlighting the African presence with in Black culture, and how it relates to spirituality, behavior and identity. The concept of my paintings express the relationship between people and the Creator, and how culture sets the foundation for obtaining a sense of identity. In my search of self-awareness, I understood that the emotional connection with art is a primary component that shapes the human condition. These values are carried through history by family traditions and rituals in hopes to influence morality and individuality. And these established procedures governors our disposition, however our true identity is often hidden behind the masks we wear.
