Anna Kincaide

My art is almost exclusively figurative because it is what I have always loved to paint. Capturing the human condition is my greatest challenge and largest reward. Focusing on one subject allows me the freedom to play with the design of my paintings. I like to experiment with color, texture and composition in order to tell a story or convey a mood. Every painting is unique and the tone of each reflects that idea. I want my stylized paintings to be a guilty pleasure for viewers, transporting them to a glamorous and fabulous place.

I am particularly fond of leaving out the faces of my subjects. I find that the anonymity gives viewers a voyeuristic escape, imagining they are part of a different life or reminding them of a piece of theirs. As a young artist, my style is constantly evolving and changing which is what keeps me in the studio day after day. Each painting teaches me something new and leaves me excited for what is to come.
