Laura Agnes

Laura E. A. Powers is an aerial dancer and oil painter. She began training aerial arts at MMAA Orlando in 2011, then performed with the FSU Flying High Circus 2016-2020. She is also trained in dance and figure skating. Laura currently specializes in contemporary aerial silks and lyra. She has weekend availability for performance at local events. Laura studied oil painting at Florida State University. She focuses primarily on the figure in her work, exploring gesture and movement. Natalia Andreeva emerged as an artist from the rich and fertile artistic climate of Novosibirsk, in Siberia after graduating from it's most prestigious art college. During her classical education in the canons of European art she was greatly influenced by eastern philosophy. Consequentially, Natalia's work is a harmonious marriage between spontaneous expressions and classical realism. Among Natalia's favorite themes are exquisite landscapes, depicting the subtlety of nature, still life, where vibrant shapes and internal dynamics are shown in contrast to the commonplace subjects, and finally, figures and portraits brimming with humanity, and giving testament to the beauty and harmony of the human condition. Natalia holds Signature Membership Status in the American Impressionist Society.

Carrie Ann Baade

Carrie Ann Baade’s oil paintings dialog with the past. Her compositions, feminist and autobiographical, weave personal and classical symbology into narratives on mortality, sexuality, personal transformation, and the darker side of human nature. Born 1974 in Louisiana, Baade received her MFA from University of Delaware in 2003 and her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1997, and she studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy in 1995-96. Raised on the front range in Colorado, she lives and works in Northern Florida, where she is a Professor of Painting and Drawing at Florida State University.

Amanda Boekhout

My name is Amanda Boekhout and I am an artist and mama living in Tallahassee, Florida. My partner, two children, cat, pup, and I live in a cozy home in the beautiful northern Florida Capitol city. Surrounded by giant live oaks and pines, swaying moss, singing birds, and chattery squirrels; the days are bright and breezy and the nights are warm and humid. Inspired by my time living in Florida and North Carolina as well as extensive travel across North America and Europe, I am in awe of the immense beauty of this planet and the creatures and creativity that encompass it. Being raised by a hard working moon worshiping mama and a cabinet making craftsman father, I learned to appreciate the magic of nature, the importance of learning and excelling at your craft, working efficiently, and relaxing and traveling often. I received my MFA from Florida State and also taught visual art as an adjunct instructor there for 6 years. I spend much of my time rearing my two young children and practicing yoga. I thrive in the art studio and truly appreciate the time I get to create is solace. My work is an offering for the divine feminine. I strive to experience balance of masculine and feminine in the world. My artwork is my contribution to this goal. Namaste.

Serena Corson

Serena Viola Corson is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Tallahassee, Florida. She was born in 1996 on the beach in North Carolina, but moved around the nation several times growing up with her single mom due to financial instability and the 2009 recession. In 2010, they found a home in a small timeless town on the East Coast of Central Florida. Serena's paintings explore the relationships between women and non-binary people trying to survive under the many agonizing forms of modern life amidst the perishing environment. Her art centers moments of collective joy, platonic pleasure and radical friendships. The mostly feminine-presenting figures Serena paints are always uncensored. These figures are either self-references or inspired directly by friends and community members. In a time where it's hard to imagine alternative structures of human society, she also seeks to present a multiplicity of possible post-work utopias. Life’s inevitable messiness is reflected in the looseness of her brushwork. While the work mainly deals with heavy and daunting issues, Serena aims for the work to always retain an uplifting sense of freedom, spontaneity and immediacy.

Mark Dickson

MARK DICKSON “I am consumed with the process of sculpting: the physical act of creating by the deconstruction and reconstruction of ideas. To me it is the struggle to reassign beauty, power and meaning to both found and raw materials and allowing these forms to exist free of the constraints of the expected norm. Of the endless variety of media in the world, metals are my love, for their possibilities are endless. Heated, forged, cast or welded; though the metal is cold and hard, with the proper persuasion it becomes warm and alive. For me, it’s the entanglement, the heat, sweat, and smoke, the challenge of steel, and fire - I call this the romance of construction, and thru this action I seek to challenge the familiar. It is my hope that the viewer will join me on this journey”. When one views Mark Dickson’s sculptures, one becomes instantly aware of his love for metal of all types. He is constantly experimenting with different combinations and finishes. Welding, forging, and casting are the primary processes he uses in his work, but he is ever exploring and pushing the boundaries of the medium. Mark draws on knowledge acquired from independent studies at Sierra College in Rockland, CA., Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL., and varied apprenticeships in metal design, fabrication, casting, foundry methods, and blacksmithing. Marks’ work is collected throughout the Southeast in public and private collections. His fluid large-scale pieces are appropriate for landscape architecture and open interiors. His smaller more detailed vessels display his passion for metal smithing and love of craftsmanship. Tight design, light abstraction, and the use of multiple metals, pigments and patinas bring to life these beautiful sculptures. They appear as modern, but at the same time represent as artifacts from the distant past; something the artist refers as “ancient futurism”. His sculpture compliments the modern style, for areas ranging from compact to expansive. Born in the San Francisco Bay area and raised in the foothills of northern California. Mark traveled the United States, before eventually making his home with his wife in Tallahassee Florida where they have lived for the past 19 years. He maintains a working sculpture studio in Tallahassee’s Rail Road Square Arts district.

Vivienne Dumas

I am always looking for ways to improve as a professional artist and be able to apply it to the real world and a career path. I have been learning and practicing art for many years in and out of the school environment. My academic achievements in art earned me the art department award of my program in 2018, a Pinellas Art Education Association award of merit in 2019, and a spot on the National Art Honor Society as president which I am continuing with this year. My proudest achievement was winning a Scholastic Art Nation gold medal in 2018 and being able to travel to New York for the ceremony. My art practice has changed over the years in order to make my own signature style and to make my art more unique to myself. My life experiences are represented in my art, like a recent diagnosis of diabetes and deaths in the family, when I express myself on the canvas. I've elevated my skills to be practiced in a lot of different mediums ranging from watercolor to pen to marker. I have an infinity for black and white, which stems from my grandmother's artistic eye. Most of my recent pieces have been monochrome to honor her due to her recent passing.

Matthew Forrest

I am a multidisciplinary artist. My art can take the form of painting, printmaking, collage, drawing, digital illustration, and animation; it often combines mediums. My style is heavily influenced by pop art, psychedelia, and my background in graphic design. Much of my work utilizes recognizable pop culture icons to create a visually appealing image and an instant connection to the viewer. It is also not uncommon to find rainbows, stars, flowers, and other nods to the psychedelic experience or preternatural. Themes common to my work include pop culture, flawed heroes, substance abuse, greed, violence, trauma, death, and healing. I know that art cannot cure all of the world’s problems, but I think it is important to make an effort, so I hope that by engaging with my art, the viewer will question their own relationships with these subjects. Although there are myriad issues that can be addressed through art, I have chosen these concepts for their relevance to my own life experiences.

Channing Gray

The work I make is about a state of internal between where it's referenced to the external experience. To express this concept, I use cosmic and atmospheric forms to create a boundless landscape that is vast and occupied by individuals. My focus is drawing but I also use other forms of material to expand and curate spaces for subjects to be enmeshed within the psychological plain. I find the intent of my practice to be this sense of longing, to find connections with others through a semblance of memory. In my youth, I experienced living in a split home where I felt that I was two separate existences so I use this sense duality to give viewers a look into the state of a vacillating mind. For such lives are vastly different and yet specific experiences are what could connect individuals together. -Channing Gray, b.1994 lives in central Florida and has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from the University of Central Florida in 2017. She is currently obtaining a Masters of Fine Art in Studio Art in 2020 at the Florida State University.

Rachel Elspeth Gross

Rachel Elspeth Gross is a fashion historian and writer; her work focuses on apparel/costume history from between 1800 CE and today. Rachel’s research is focused on the stories behind names, houses, and brands, with an emphasis on people who have been left out of history (which unfortunately happens a lot to people of color, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women.) All of Rachel’s research is focused on the stories behind the names, houses, brands, and trends that affect what people wear and why they wear it. Since 2018, Rachel has run her popular blog, Today’s Inspiration. Focused on the history of apparel and the people who have affected that industry. Drawing more than 34,000 loyal, individual readers every day; Rachel’s ever-growing audience includes some of the biggest names in Fashion, Haute Couture, Fashion Journalism, and the academic end of Fashion History. Her work has been featured in Women’s Wear Daily, the New York Times, 1stDibs, Italian Harper’s Bazaar, The Seattle Times, The National News, and Vintage Woman magazine. In 2020 she began the Instagram Live series Couture Kibbitz with vintage fashion pioneer Cameron Silver. In 2021 Rachel accepted the position of Head Fashion Historian at the Little Red Fashion Company, the world’s first-ever fashion education start-up for kids and young adults. In 2022 she became head of the Fashion History Department at Fashion Constellate, a vintage sales and research platform. A formally trained designer in her own right, in her spare time Rachel recreates 19th century ball gowns from scratch.

Tselote Holley

“Exploring the dynamics of African culture and tapping into my internal energies from all ranges, allows me to focus my research on identity and vulnerable expressions.” Through the exploration of identity, I create artwork that is a conjunction of African influences and spiritual guides used with different materials such as, fabric, beads, wire, charcoal, and clay. The artwork transcends to an abstract shape-shifting presence of self-portraiture. Within this focus, I pay close attention to the conceptual ideas of a layered soul, a layered mind, and a layered figure. I use the woman body as a focus because of my obsessions with myself and the woman of this world. My body of work battles and creates a world of woman domination, due to the masculine foundational standings our society were built upon. My objective is to create a sensational shift in women culture, in finding our true selves, and understanding our infinite essence in our spirit, and to be able to transfer this infinite mind through our presence on earth.

Hello! Thank you for showing interest in my work. My BFA is in Fine Arts - Painting, Drawing & Print Making from the University of North Florida. For 6 years I worked in the corporate world as a jewelry and accessory designer for Chico’s FAS and then did some freelance design work for a company in India, called Metalma Mode. Thankfully, I am finally back in Tallahassee! I currently work for LeMoyne Arts as the Chain of Parks Art Festival Manager and continue to sell my handmade jewelry, commissioned paintings, create murals, and children's book illustrations. I am thankful to have a career that nurtures both my creative passions and practical sensibilities. I have a strong work ethic and have learned how to manage large workloads, hit deadlines, meet budget parameters, solve problems creatively, and work collaboratively with all types of people. I am interested in commission work and community create projects. Bio Michelle Magallon (1997, Panama) graduated with a BFA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2019. She focuses on painting, sculpture, and performance. Currently residing in Panama City, Panama she is exploring the materiality of paint (color, texture, mark-making) and belongingness (within space and place.) Statement Small gestures serve as the backbone for my explorations. My current body of work aims to look beyond the traditional uses of paint to further emphasize its formal elements of color, shape, and texture. Either by using the body to emphasize the plasticity of paint or by itself as an object. My practice is fueled by small narratives of the mundane, being a young woman, belongingness, and space and place.

Lindsay Merwin

Lindsay Merwin is an award-winning Florida artist. She recently graduated from Florida State University with a B.A. in Studio Art with a focus on Painting and Figure, and has been working as an artist at Disney Springs since September 2021. Much of her work is largely inspired by people. Whether it’s the way they look, the way they feel, their energy, their emotions, how they interact with others, their lives, all of it. She is very inspired by how complex people are and the many ways to express that with art. Lindsay has participated in art exhibitions all across Florida & has been the recipient of awards from St. Augustine Art Association, Women in the Arts Inc, Winter Garden Art Association, & FemArt Gallery.

Matt Miller

Visual Arts: Painting, Performance Art, Performers and Writers

I am an emerging, innovative live painter, specializing in a unique genre that I call "plein air sports art." My recent efforts have been focused on Ironman triathlons, where I capture athletes in motion against the iconic scenery of the race course. My other favorite subjects to paint include live bands, festival scenes, and the majestic trees of North Florida. In my four years as a professional artist, I have completed over 500 paintings, including more than 100 live painting performances. When I am not painting, I am probably playing outside or trying to finish my Philosophy dissertation. I expect to obtain a PhD from FSU in 2020.
