Frond Walk

From darkroom techniques of the 1970s to the constantly evolving digital era of fine art, Stewart Nelson has always approached photography with an innovator’s eye. His goal is to manipulate color, texture, and light to move his photographs beyond realism, creating an altered reality more evocative of dreams or fading memories. Whether he’s using a flatbed scanner as a camera or Photoshop to manipulate images, computers and digital technology are critical tools in his creative process. For the past few years, Nelson has been creating surreal panoramas using an iPhone. He intentionally maneuvers the camera during the long exposure to create image distortions, keeping the viewer slightly off balance.  His work has been exhibited nationally and has received many awards and accolades.
