Collectors & Crooks

Presented by Goodwood Museum & Gardens at Goodwood Museum and Gardens

Come enjoy a Louisiana-inspired dinner while listening to Tom Whitehead and FBI Special Agent Randolph Deaton tell how they identified a team of crooks forging Clementine Hunter's art and brought them to justice.

Mr. Whitehead, an author and recognized expert on Clementine Hunter's work, was a personal friend of the artist. Today, he owns one of the largest collections of her work, including the paintings on loan for the current exhibition. Special Agent Deaton has over 18 years of investigative experience with the FBI. Deaton is a Relief Supervisor for the FBI, a member of the FBI’s Adjunct Faculty Program, and a FBI certified Police Instructor and Interview and Interrogation instructor. Recently, Deaton received the honor of being selected as one of the newest members of the FBI’s Art Crime Team.

Collectors and Crooks will be held in the beautiful Carriage House on the grounds of Goodwood Museum and Gardens beginning at 6:00 pm. John Gandy will be setting the stage for the Louisiana inspired evening that will start with Zydeco music and drinks on the patio.  Chef Billy of Rutabaga Café will be serving dinner and desserts with his signature farm to table flair.  Beer and wine will be served alongside sweet and unsweet tea. Tickets, $50 for non-members and $45 for members, can be purchased at the door or online through the Goodwoodmuseum.org.  For more information please call Goodwood at 850-877-4202.
