The Tallahassee Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will present a lecture by Dr. Charles Brewer on J. S. Bach’s St. John Passion at First Presbyterian Church, 110 N. Adams St. in downtown Tallahassee.  This exploration of Bach’s beautiful meditation on the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus anticipates the performance of Bach’s Passion by the Tallahassee Community Chorus (under the direction of Dr. Andre Thomas) on Sunday, April 30th at 4 PM in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall. 

Dr. Charles Brewer is a Professor of Historical Musicology at the FSU College of Music, and has published extensively on the music of the medieval and baroque eras.  His multimedia presentation is an excellent way to learn about Bach’s St. John Passion—and to prepare spiritually for the celebration of Holy Week.  This event is free and open to the public.
