Band Camp for Middle School

Band Camp for Middle School

Presented by FSU Summer Music Camps at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall - Florida State University

During one amazing week, middle school students can experience what it is like to be on their own, to make new friends, and to have new experiences all while developing their skills as a musician. Whether they have just started learning an instrument or have been taking lessons for years, the Middle School Band Camp provides a non-competitive but challenging environment where campers of all ability levels can learn and perform.

Campers will play in one of three concert bands and will attend daily classes that include band rehearsals, sectional and master classes, music theory, and an elective class. This camp provides students an opportunity to receive exceptional instruction on the instrument that they love, but it also enables them to try something new  - like steel pan ensemble, jazz improvisation, world music, or conducting.  Performance is also an integral part of the camp experience and all Middle School Band Camp students will perform in a public performance on the last day of camp.

A band campers’ musical day begins at 8:00am and ends at 5:00pm. Each day is divided into eight class periods and includes an hour break for lunch. Campers put down their instruments at 5:00pm, but the day isn’t over yet! Each evening, students can participate in recreational activities such as bowling, swimming, movie nights, ice cream socials, game nights, and more.
