Allijah Motika at Black Dog on the Square

Presented by Black Dog on the Square at Black Dog on the Square

Allijah Motika is a folk-pop artist and multi-instrumentalist who arrived in Tallahassee, Florida in the fall of 2015. He toes the line between storyteller and pop band: creating a sound defined by soaring melodies, clever beatboxing, expressive lyrics, and tasteful acoustic guitar playing – organized with the help of his trusty loop pedal.
Allijah cut his teeth in the thriving indie and folk music scenes of North Carolina. While working toward a degree in the innovative popular music department at Catawba College, he formed the five-piece band Life Size, an indie-pop group with crisp harmonies and a dynamic rhythm section. Life Size saw quick success in NC, recording two albums and touring across the state before parting ways in 2015 after graduation.
Since moving to Florida, Allijah has returned to what first inspired his love of music: the art of story telling. “A song means nothing if it doesn’t make you see and feel the events within it,” he says. “That’s my ultimate goal as a solo artist. All of my fancy footwork is there to support my stories, and I hope that people can relate to them.” Allijah’s debut EP, By the Door, was released in 2011 and he’s now recording his second project as a solo artist.
On Friday, February 17th, Allijah brings his one-man-band to Black Dog on the Square playing two sets of music from 7-9:30pm. The show is free and open to all audiences. Come down to your favorite Tallahassee coffee shop for a night filled with delicious drinks, tasty treats, and great music.
