In the 1960's, American Jews participated in the Civil Rights Movement and Stood shoulder to shoulder with African Americans at rallies, sit-ins,and marches, and they were strengthened by the same freedom songs. This study and song session uses the letter of the Jewish civil rights atavist and several freedom songs to explore how this music, was able to cross racial and religious boundaries and build community.
