Florida: A Land Protected

Presented by Tallahassee Film Society at All Saints Cinema

Adam Watson and Kathryn Palmer of State Archives of Florida film collection, will discuss the use of film during the 20th century to project positive images of Florida in order to attract tourism, industrial growth and agricultural development. The program is intended to demonstrate the collaboration between state government agencies (particularly the Florida Department of Commerce), film makers, production companies and celebrities to attract visitors as well as permanent residents. The selected films will emphasize the lighter side of promotion and highlight the changing image of Florida from past to present.
