Children's Home Society

Children’s Home Society (CHS) North Central Division opened its doors in Tallahassee in 1963 as an adoption agency that served Leon County and its surrounding communities. Since the 1960s, CHS provided counseling and care for unwed mothers and placed hundreds of children in permanent adoptive homes in the Tallahassee area.

Over the decades, the North Central Division has expanded its services to provide not only adoption related services, but also emergency shelter care, evaluation, counseling, and treatment for abused and neglected children. CHS also provides services for infants and toddlers with disabilities and intensive in home services that are designed to strengthen and preserve families. In 2012 alone, CHS touched the lives of over 4,300 children and families in the Big Bend area.
