Since opening his doors as The Deli on November 1, 1972, Andy Reiss has served millions of plates of food and has been on the forefront of everything from political history (2000 Presidential elections) to personal milestones (proposals, graduations, birthdays). Through the years, Andy has stayed current and vibrant by changing his restaurants to reflect the needs and changes of the community. Andy has owned and operated The Deli (1972), the Brass Rail (1974), Andrew’s 2nd Act (1975), Maxin’s (1977), Tutto Bene (1979), Andrew’s Upstairs (1983) Andrew’s Capital Grill & Bar (1998) and Andrew’s 228 (2002) all in the same location.

In addition, Andrew’s Catering has been operating since 1982 when Andy became the exclusive caterer for the Leon County Civic Center –
a contract that lasted for 9 years. Andrew’s Catering now proudly serves as the exclusive caterer for The FSU Alumni Center.

It is fair to say that no other local business has become as much a part of the fabric of our community as Andrews Downtown. The historical and cultural significance of Andrew’s Downtown is impressive and unparalleled even statewide. Andy has been on a first name basis with every Governor since Reubin Askew. The restaurant played a host role in the 2000 President election and was even captured in all of the national media attention.
