Based on Mel Brook’s 1968 comedy film, the musical The Producers opens Friday, Aug. 19 at the Quincy Music Theatre. Acclaimed director Naomi Rose-Mock brings this riotous show to area audiences. It is not suitable for children. Aug. 19-21 & 26-28.
The producers' plan was simple: Take the worst actors, director and script. Name the musical something offensive like “Springtime for Hitler.” Get fat cats to bankroll it and when it flops, (as it surely must), walk away with all the dough — legally. The show runs for two weekends, Aug. 19-21 and 26-28. Tickets are are on sale now, just $15 for students/seniors/military and $18 for adults. Evening performances are at 7:30 p.m. and matinees are at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays and the second Saturday, Aug. 21.
