The Capital Chordsmen—Celebrating 50 Years of Harmony!
Tallahassee’s award-winning barbershop harmony chorus will present a power-packed 50-year anniversary show at TCC’s Turner Auditorium Saturday, June 11. Show times are 2:00 and 7:00 pm. Under the creative force of Director Greg Hilliard, Jr., the full chorus and its barbershop quartets will deliver a memorable two-hour showcase of songs in beautiful four-part harmony. The guest performers for this celebratory concert are The Chordmen’s Associate Director Jackson Pinder and his accomplished quartet, Rooftop Records.
Multi-talented Chorus President Steve Jacobsen wrote this year’s show, building into it a variety of special moments and effects—including a reincarnation of tv talk-show legend Johnny Carson, who will serve as the master of ceremonies. The Chordsmen will perform How Deep Is the Ocean, Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Step in Time, South Rampart Street Parade, I’m Looking Over a Four-Leaf Clover, Steppin’ Out With My Baby, and other memorable numbers.
The quartets for this year’s big show are The Rolling Tones (singing Darkness on the Delta and Flight 502, Where Are You?), In-A-Chord (Bare Necessities and Bring Back Those Good Old Days), The Ringtones (I Got Rhythm, Danny Boy, and Let a Smile Be Your Umbrella), FSU collegiate quartet Deez Notes (Sweet Adeline), and featured women’s quartet Revised Edition (A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes, Zing Went the Strings of My Heart, and Lollipop).
Tickets are available from a favorite barbershopper, through the website, or at the door.
