My Favorite Books Morning Memoir Mania Book Signing

My Favorite Books will be hosting a Morning Book Signing for Don Schroeder and Julie Bettinger, December 10th.

Don Schroeder was born in 1936 and grew up in Indiana. After graduating from Indiana University he wrote for newspapers in South Bend, IN and Dayton and Columbus, Ohio. After retiring, Dan wrote a book of memoirs: “Air Raid Nights & Radio Days” – anecdotes from growing up on ‘The Home Front’ during World War II and into the1950s. “After the Depression and World War II, conditions improved for many Americans, including Don and his family. With wit and humor, Don invites the world to see Indianapolis as this “”nasty little gutter tramp”” saw it.”

Julie Strauss Bettinger is an award-winning literary journalist whose work has appeared in a variety of electronic and print media for more than twenty-five years. Her most recent book, “Encounters with Rikki: from Hurricane Katrina rescue to exceptional therapy dog”, was published January 2016. She also coauthored “Blasted by Adversity: The Making of a Wounded Warrior”, which was released Memorial Day 2015. She earned both a bachelors and a masters degree from Florida State University and a Master of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD. “Encounters with Rikki tells the true story of the incredible partnership between Chuck and Rikki, a very special rescue dog. Rikki first found her home with Chuck and Patty Mitchell in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Even though the golden retriever was a shy, shell-shocked puppy still adapting to the stress of displacement, Chuck recognized her innate abilities as a therapy dog.”
