Rick Barnett, of Barnett Fronczak Barlowe Architects, will speak to the restoration of the Rough House. They have generously provided the restoration plan as an in-kind contribution to the effort to rebuild the Rough House. Built in 1915 by Goodwood’s owner at the time, Fanny Tiers, the house was originally called Camellia Cottage. It was the dressing facility for Goodwood’s famous 12-ft. deep swimming pool. However as Goodwood was host to lively parties, which sometimes continued into late hours at Camellia Cottage, it prompted the staff to dub it the Rough House. Over the years the Rough House exterior has developed deteriorations, and required extensive restoration. The State of Florida Division of Historical Resources has awarded a grant of $50,000 for the project stating, “Preservation of the Rough House is important because its historical accuracy complements the visitor experience in understanding the manner in which Goodwood looked and how it was utilized by its owners.” Learn about what is being done and what the future holds for the Rough House.
