Dolores Huerta bucks 1950’s gender conventions by starting the country’s first farm worker’s union. What starts out as a struggle for racial and labor justice, soon becomes a much larger fight for gender equality and women’s rights.

Dolores Huerta is among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history. An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized.
