Blessing of Animals

FREE
Furry, feathered, or other animal friends are invited to be blessed at our annual event.The Blessing of Animals originated in the 13th century in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment, who believed that all animals should be treated with dignity and respect.

Programming will include:
— Blessings of animal companions (free certificate & digital photo included)
— Animal organization booths (information, pets for adoption, etc.)
— Paso Fino horse demonstrations
— Human remains detection dogs demonstrations
— Craft activity for children
— Bake sale with all proceeds benefitting Tallahassee Big Dog Rescue and Big Bend DARTS .
— Pet food and supply drive benefitting local animal shelters (for a list of what the humane society needs visit http://www.lchs.info/summer_saving_supply_list/ )
— Living history throughout the historic site
— Food vendors
— Theater with a Mission performance and speaker series

Theater with a Mission will be presenting the world premiere of “Loco for Love” at 2 pm. Join the fun as Cervantes challenges Shakespeare to a battle of wits that’s been 400 years in the making. You get to decide who wins the title of “World Champion Storyteller.” Leap across centuries and scale language barriers, as you relive Cardenio’s history of going crazy when his best friend steals his fiancée.
