In a totalitarian future society, a man whose daily work is rewriting history tries to rebel by falling in love.

George Orwell’s protagonist, Winston Smith, begins to rebel against his oppressive government on April 4th by keeping a secret diary. Having suddenly reemerged as a bestseller, the story is being celebrated internationally this April. 

Starring John Hurt, Richard Burton, Suzanna Hamilton, and Cyril Cusack.
 

Dr. Bruce Bickley, FSU English Department, will introduce the novel and film and help lead the discussion afterwards.
