Call to Artists! Apply for the 29th Art in Gadsden...
Posted: Jun 07, 2017
Attention artists! You are invited to apply for entry into the 29th Annual Art in Gadsden: Regional Exhibition of Fine Art. A tradition of the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum since 1989, Art in Gadsden draws visitors and patrons from across the region each year to experience art by the area’s top artists and artists new to the region. The exhibition includes work in many mediums: watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings; drawings with pen, ink, and colored pencil; sculptures created from wood, glass, and clay; photographs and digital illustrations. A collectable poster is produced each year featuring one of the accepted works of art in the exhibition and these posters are available for purchase in the Museum Shop. This is an exciting opportunity for regional artists to share their work and for Gadsden Arts to celebrate the creativity within our community. The exhibition will be on view at Gadsden Arts from October 13 to December 16, 2017. All artists, whether new or returning, established or emerging, who reside within 200 miles of Quincy or are former residents of Gadsden County, are welcome to apply!
In 2016, enamelist Kathleen Wilcox won the Best in Show award for her piece, Swamp Gems: 12 Birds. Wilcox comments: “Receiving an award and recognition for my work is an honor and a validation of all the time and hard work I put into my art. I sincerely appreciate Gadsden Arts providing local artists the opportunity to exhibit in such a beautiful venue.”
Four award winners will be selected by juror, Audra Pittman, Executive Director of COCA, the Council on Culture and Arts. Through COCA, Pittman helps serve as a leading voice for the arts and cultural industry in Florida’s capital area.
Pittman is known for her sincere dedication to the arts, including serving as the Vice-Chair of the Cultural Plan Review Committee. She is also the owner and founder of Suite P Creative Studio.
