Trio Azul is an ensemble dedicated to sharing exceptional music with its audiences. A cultivation of distinct musical tastes has led this chamber group to repertoire engagements of rarely performed piano trios by Claude Debussy and Ernest Chausson, in addition to contemporary works by Jennifer Higdon and Ellen Taafe Zwillich. Trio Azul is currently based in Tallahassee, Florida, where it was formed in 2015 at Florida State University. The ensemble’s presence in Tallahassee ranges from full length recitals to multiple community engagements, including a performance for the Saint Andrews Society of Tallahassee. Trio Azul also maintains an international presence outside of the United States. In May of 2017, members of the ensemble were invited to take part of the Young Artist Program at the Scotia Festival of Music, in Halifax Nova Scotia. During their residency in the Canadian maritimes, the ensemble enjoyed the honor of being coached by violinist Giora Schmidt, as well as a performance at the Sir James Dunn Theatre. Throughout the year, however, the ensemble has been coached by numerous individuals at Florida State University, including Read Gainsford and Greg Sauer, members of Trio Solis. Trio Azul has also had coachings with Joel Hastings, Shannon Thomas, and visiting members of the Badke String Quartet.
