Born in Memphis, TN, Kim found her love for art in the 5th grade. Her classmates were always asking her to draw them something. She concentrated her art on portraits at first, using acrylics and pastels as her two mediums of choice.

After getting her B.S. degree in Studio Art from Florida State, she became a graphic designer and started her own business, Graphic Visions, in 1993.

She started taking art classes again at FSU after graduating. She took, painting, mosaics and ceramics. One day, a teacher suggested she take the glass fusing class. Having no idea what that was, she took the class. Two years after taking her first glass fusing class, she was teaching the class and bought her own kiln in 2005.

While the price of glass keeps going up, Kim has found an additional art medium that she likes as well. Polymer clay. You can see some examples on her Facebook page @HauteArt2013.

Today, Kim teaches fused glass classes in her hometown and showcases in local and out of town art shows within Florida. She loves teaching her art and continues to learn new techniques in glass.

TEACHING ARTIST INFO...

Briefly describe the class(es) you offer:

I offer beginner classes in fused glass. We make suncatchers and small projects. I also have jewelry classes every now and then. Fun two hour class to let your creativity show. I fire the projects in my own kiln at home and we meet back during a certain day and time for the students to pick up their projects.
