Deon Lewis was born and raised in Tallahassee, FL. She learned to quilt as a family activity with her Grandmother at the age of 12 and has further honed her skills and talents as a fiber artist over the last 15 years. Her main inspirations are drawn from nature and wildlife while her use of contrasting colors and unique use of fabric, fibers, threads and paint create dynamic pieces unlike traditional artwork. Sizes of her work can vary greatly, however typically the complexity remains and many works contain over 100 pieces of fabric per square foot.

She has received top awards in several Art Quilt Shows. She was Cover Artist for Lemoyne Chain of Parks and received Awards in Distinction of Fiber Arts. Her quilt “Wildfire” has traveled around the Nation to 10 venues with SAQA’s Exhibit “Piecing Together a Changing Planet”. It also survived the Gatlinburg wildfire at Arrowmont. She is looking forward to new adventures in the coming year.
